Professional Skills Development

The Training Grounds Professional Skills Development (PSD) program is a comprehensive training program that prepares participants for future careers by utilizing its 4-A plan. PSD helps participants assess, adapt, apply and advance their skills and talents in relation to various career choices.  The Training Grounds’ 4-A plan involves the following:

1. Assess their skills, talents and interests
2. Adapt those skills, talents and interests to their environment
3. Apply those skills, talents and interests to various career possibilities/opportunities and
4. Advance within a particular career choice

Participants who graduate from a PSD program have a better understanding of their personal strengths, goals and interests and are better equipped for the world of work.  Graduates of a PSD program are focused and not only have an understanding of the work environment but better understand how they fit into the world of work.   

The PSD program consists of daily training classes, life skills training, career assessments, career tours, peer-to-peer learning, power lunches with business leaders and successful entrepreneurs, field trips and internships or other on-site job experiences. 

Using adaptations of the NFTE, Junior Achievement and Banking on Our Future curriculums, Training Grounds operates its PSD program in conjunction with educational institutions, nonprofit and community based organizations as well as corporate partners.
